4 drug peddlers arrested in Baramulla: Police | KNO

Srinagar, Nov 09 (KNO): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday said to have arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession. A Police party of Police Station Kunzer headed by SHO PS Kunzer at a checkpoint established at Kunzer intercepted two persons identified as Jahangeer Ahmad Rather son of Bashir Ahmad resident of Karhama & Rahil Rahman Ganie son of Ab Rahman resident of Ratnipora Payeen. During the search 40 grams of Charas-like substances were recovered from their possession, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Similarly, a police party of Police Station Pattan headed by SHO PS Pattan at a checkpoint established at Zangam Crossing intercepted one person identified as Javid Ahmad Rather son of Mohd Maqbool resident of Rambailgarh Mirgund Srinagar. During search, 188 grams of Cannabis Powder-like substances were recovered from his possession, police said. Moreover, a police party of Police Post Kamalkote headed by IC PP Kamalkote at a checkpoint established at Sarie Bandi intercepted one person identified as Iqbal Hussain son of Gulab Shah resident of Sari Bandi. During the search, 3.7 Kgs of Cannabis Powder like substances were recovered from his possession, police said. “All the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.” Accordingly, police said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Kunzer, PS Pattan & PS Uri and investigation has been initiated. “We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said—(KNO)
